Our Class

Welcome to Year 6!

As the oldest children in the school, we have lots of responsibilities in challenges. We need to work hard for our end of KS2 SATS, but we always make sure we have fun at the same time. We use lots of games and fun activities to help us learn key concepts in maths, reading and grammar to make sure we are well-prepared for these tests.

However, Y6 is not just all about SATs, and we also make sure we look at lots of other aspects of the curriculum. We look further in depth at our local history and the geography we find in the world. We also complete lots of exciting investigations in science – from exploring how to bend light to how our heart works! We learn about how we have a role in our wider community in our PSHE and RE lessons, especially as we move towards leaving Primary and moving to High school.

The staff in Y6 this year are:

  • Miss Pearson
  • Mrs Kilbane
  • Mrs Clayton
  • Mrs James
Our P.E. days are:
  • Monday
  • Wednesday
We value the support of parents and guardians and we will be creating lots of opportunities to invite you into class to work alongside your child and to see the progress they have made.

Homework ~ homework is sent home at the start of the term as a task on seesaw. Children should also read every night and use TTRockstars to practise their multiplication tables. If your child needs any help with homework, please come and talk to a member of staff.

Online learning ~ each child has a seesaw account so please download the app and encourage your child to use it.
